Aayirathil Oruvan is a 2010 Tamil thriller film directed by K. S. Ravikumar, starring Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles. The film is a remake of the Hindi film Drona released in 2008 with the same star cast although it features a different story line. It was dubbed into Telugu as Aparatha which stars Ravi Teja and Asin who are unrelated to the original versions cast. The film released on 22 January 2010 to critical acclaim and was declared a hit at the box office. Before the release, the film garnered a lot of attention as it became a highly anticipated project after a decade, since Ravikumar's last successful venture "Kaadhal". Although the film opened to mixed reviews from critics, the film was well accepted by audiences and was declared a success at the box office. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Trisha's performance as well as Ajith's performance as an autistic person was praised. The story is about Aayirathil Oruvan (Ajith Kumar), who is an autistic man with psychokinesis powers. His father (Soundararajan) has groomed him for the army, but the latter is killed in action in New York. The story follows Aayirathil Oruvan (Ajith Kumar) who was trained for the army by his father in Kerala, then in Madras and finally in New York. As soon as he comes back to India, which is with his mother (Haripriya), he meets her cousin Priya (Trisha Krishnan), who happens to be an orphan. They fall in love with each other. After two years, Priya tells Aayirathil Oruvan that she is pregnant. He suspects that there is something bad about the pregnancy. His sister Adithi (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) urges him to tell her the truth but he refuses. So, she tells their mother who reveals to Aayirathil Oruvan that his mother herself gave birth to her son at the age of 29. She also tells him that he has psychokinesis powers and walked away from them after realizing it early on. Aayirathil Oruvan is bent on developing the powers and has been training under his father's former apprentice, Yohan (Vivek) in order to become a protector of India. He also runs an orphanage with Priya. Priya wants Aayirathil Oruvan to marry Adithi, who is pregnant with Aayirathil Oruvan's baby, but he wants her to live on an isolated farmhouse as she is still vulnerable. At this point, Adithi reveals that she is writing a novel about their lives which she wants Aayirathil Oruvan to publish. This finally persuades him. cfa1e77820
